Stanley Beach from Invererie Heights

There is no postmark on this postcard which would tell us the date when this photograph was taken but we can make a good guess from the buildings which are shown in the photograph. The large building in the centre of the card was the L&PS bathhouse and cafeteria which was built in 1917. The L&PS dance pavilion (later named the Stork Club), built in 1926, is not present so the photo must have been made prior to that date and after 1917. The photograph was probably taken from the top of the incline railway which took passengers from the beach area to the top of what was then known as the picnic hill.
