Aerial View of the Central Village

Aerial views of Port Stanley are of great interest to historians,
especially when they bear a date. This view was taken in 1920, and may
well have been taken at the same time as the postcard entitled Main
Beach Aerial View (1) on this website. This view is taken from a quite
different angle. It would have been taken from the east of the bridge
over Kettle Creek, looking northwest. The wooden grain elevator shown in
that photograph is in the lower left hand corner of this photograph, and
the railway depot can be discerned to the left of the bridge which would
later be rebuilt at the King George VI lift bridge.
