Orchard Beach 2

The postmark on this postcard of Orchard Beach is Sept.15, 1910. Orchard Beach used to be an area of summer cottages east of the village. According to the London Free Press, the first summer cottage was built here in 1883. By the time this photograph was taken, the area boasted several lakefront cottages, with a wide sandy beach in front of them. In 1910 these summer cottages would have been boarded up and vacant in the winter months.
