Merry-Go-Round

The postmark on this card is 1911. A Ferris wheel and a merry-go-round were situated just east of the Stanley Beach Casino dance pavilion. Both the dance pavilion and the merry go round were destroyed by fire in 1902. Tom Gilbert, a long time Port Stanley resident, has a boyhood memory of sifting through the ashes of the merry go round after the fire, looking for the glass eyeballs of its burnt horses.
