Hillcrest Inn (1)

This postcard is labeled, “Hill Crest, Port Stanley,
Ontario”. It dates from 1912. Hillcrest is the name given to the bluff immediately to the
east of the Port Stanley Harbour. This is the area where Port Stanley’s
founding father, John Bostwick, built his home. In the 19th century the
area was known as Liberty Hill. It is believed that this building was later
transformed into the Hillcrest Inn and operated as a hotel for many years.
The photograph on this card would have been taken looking south.
Most of the other postcards which show the Hillcrest Inn were taken looking north.
