Port Stanley from Invererie Heights

There is no message or postmark on this postcard so we do not know
the exact date when this photograph was taken but the early years of the
last century would be a good guess. The photographer would have been
standing on Invererie Heights, the bluff to the west of the central
village. In the background is the bluff known as Hillcrest. Kettle Creek
is hidden from view. The street parallel to the bottom of the photograph
would have been Sydenham Street, and running at right angles to it in
roughly the centre of the photograph would have been Smith Street. If
any of our viewers think they can identify an early version of their
present home, HPS would love to hear from you.
