Marquette and Bessemer (3)

There are other postcards on this website which talk about the
three different coal car carrying ferries which were called the
Marquette and Bessemer and which ran between Port Stanley and Conneault,
Ohio. You can read in their description about the confusion in ship
names. We can see on this postcard that the London and Port Stanley
railroad has been electrified This means that this photograph was taken
after 1913, so this must have been the third ferry which bore this name.
The empty railcars being loaded here suggest that the ship was on its
way back to Conneault. The coal car loading slip was on the west side of
the Port Stanley harbour.
