Port Stanley Grain Elevator

This postcard, dating from 1908 shows a grain elevator which had been built on the West side of the harbour by the Lake Erie and Detroit River Railroad.   It was later replaced by a concrete elevator.

In front of it is the steamship Simla.   According to the Maritime History of the Great Lakes web site, the Simla carried mostly coal, so she may have been simply sailing in front of the grain elevator.
