Invererie Heights

By the early 1900s, when many of the postcards which are shown on this website were published and mailed, summer residences were starting to be built in various areas surrounding the tiny village of Port Stanley. One of the early areas to be developed as a summer cottage area was Invererie Heights. The roadway shown on this postcard led along the bluff west of the village. Below this bluff was what was to become Port Stanley’s amusement beach. This postcard, postmarked 1910, shows some of these cottages.
Present residents of the area tell us that the area between the front of their house and the crest of the bluff is considerably less today than it was in 1910.
