Erie Rest

The date on this postcard is 1911 and by that date several
large homes and summer cottages already existed on Erie Rest, the area
west of the village beyond what was then known as Fraser Heights
(called Invererie Heights today). Much of the property was originally owned by
John Mitchell who felt that it was not suitable to be used as farmland,
and divided it into cottage lots. The area to the west was known as
Mitchell Heights.
