Beach & Fraser Hill

Beach and Fraser Hill

There is no title on this postcard and no date, but we think that it is an early view of Port Stanley.

The grain elevator on the west side of the harbour has not yet been built.

The building, in the foreground is the Franklin House Hotel.

There is a note attached to the postcard which we have in our Heritage Port Stanley files which can probably be attributed to Frank Brumpton, an early Port Stanley resident. The note says “On the wharf – Liquor warehouse used for exporting booze during “dry days”, and Port Stanley Supply Co. which produced fertilizer made of junk fish.   On the east side of the harbour Brown’s fish house and broom factory.”
