Cargo Ship Shenango No.1

Most residents of Port Stanley know about the ill fated Bessemer coal ferry, but few have heard of the Shenango #1.

There is no postmark or date on this postcard.  According to the internet, the Schenango #1 was built in Toledo, Ohio in 1895, and transported coal across Lake Erie from the coal fields of Pennsylvania.  The internet says that she sailed between Conneault, Ohio and Port Dover, Ontario.  Port Stanley is not mentioned.  The boat burned on March 11, 1904 while trapped in ice at Conneaut.
