Marquette and Bessemer Number 2

This postcard shows the ill fated Marquette and Bessemer Number 2 which sank on Lake Erie in December of 1909. It was carrying coal cars across the lake and was one of 3 ferries of the same name. The inset is a photograph of the captain, Robert McLeod who lost his life in the tragedy.
