Orchard Beach from Hillcrest

This postcard is postmarked February 17, 1912 and shows a view of the summer cottage area east of the Port Stanley business section. This area was then and is now known as Orchard Beach.  It had once been an orchard (surprise surprise).

The three breakwaters extending out from the shore were an early attempt to control the erosion which subsequently claimed so much Orchard Beach property.
